The second edition of The Epistles of Romans and James adds the author’s own literal translation of the text of Romans and James in place of the Revised Standard Version, Catholic Edition of 1966. The same detailed exegesis as the first edition is made even more enhanced with additional footnotes and apologetics commentaries.
The third volume (now in its Second Edition, Jan 7, 2009) of the CASB, The Epistles of Romans and James, is a one-of-a-kind exegetical commentary. Centered around the general topic of soteriology, and justification specifically, this commentary analyzes these two controversial letters in the New Testament as only the CASB series has become known to do. A detailed, verse-by-verse study of each chapter spans over 600 pages of study. No relevant subject is left untouched. Included are in-depth word studies, contextual analysis, textual analysis, patristic testimony, conciliar, papal and catechetical citations, and much more. This commentary will show, like no other before it, that Paul's epistle to the Romans is the very foundation upon which Catholic doctrine is built, not only in soteriology, but in ecclesiology as well. The book of James is also given the same detailed analysis, and the CASB shows that its teachings dovetail perfectly with those of St. Paul. It is one of the most penetrating and formidable exegetical works ever produced for the Catholic audience for the purpose of teaching and defending the doctrinal teachings of the Catholic Church.

I have most of the CASB volumes, although I rejected the RCC because of their theologians disgraceful view of the Holy Scriptures. I'm referring specifically, to that obscenity called the Catholic Study Bible. I mean the translation is probably OK, but the footnotes were sickening, and I know for a fact, of at least two families that lost their faith because of that bible.
They commented "If the bible is full of myths, Jesus didn't say what the bible says he said, if the miracles are myths and Adam and Eve are myths and we got here by evolution, then what part of the Scriptures can I believe."
I only wish Robert Sugensis would give up trying to defend the RCC and go back to his Calvinist roots.
Now, I'm not one to say that Catholics aren't Born Again, because some are and some aren't, just like in any other denomination.
I just ordered the volume on Genesis of the CASB, and probably will order the one on Romans and James and 1 Corinthians.
I have read "Not by Faith Alone," but have come to the conclusion that Mr Sungenis, while a fantastic theologian and the ONLY one I trust in the entire RCC, I believe he is wrong and that Luther, Calvin, Knox, Spuregon, and Hodge are correct.
We shall see when we get to heaven.
Peace
